Ulrich Sisters with Daughters 2019 // Austin
Well ... the Ulrich sisters and their daughters all went their separate ways Monday, which marked the end of this year's #UlrichSistersWithDaughters trip.
This year, my mom and I were in charge of picking where to go. After a few months of tossing ideas around, researching prices, and narrowing things down ... we ended up going with Austin, TX. What a neat city and area! Because I'm more than a little OCD, we created a Google form for everyone to fill out and vote on what they wanted to do and see. Then we took those numbers and created a VERY flexible itinerary (because I like a plan ... but a changeable plan). We also filled up little goody bags with "treats" for everyone (this was not our idea ... Jess and Erin did this for our first year, and Audrey and Becca followed suit). We ordered our totes through this Etsy shop. So cute! I also designed a logo on PicMonkey for the back of the totes.
If I had to sum up our specific trip in one word, it would definitely be: FOOD.
We ate so. much. good food. It was unreal.
I don't think you could pick a place to eat in Austin and get a bad meal (kidding, but for real).
When we landed in Austin on Thursday, we immediately went to Torchy's Tacos. So so good! I got The Republican taco on corn tortillas. They have a gluten conscious menu as well as a "normal" menu!
When we got to our home away from home, we decided to take naps before heading to dinner at Café No Sé and visiting the Austin Bat Bridge.
On Friday, we got up and ready for breakfast at Paperboy (an adorable little food truck trailer).
Following breakfast was a day of shopping on South Congress (SoCo) and a light lunch at South Congress Café.
To end our day, we went to Austin's Project Panic (an escape room, and the first one I had ever been to). We only had two more items to figure out before we escaped the room, but just missed it! It was still very fun.
Then we swung by CRAFT. It's an art studio that 1. has specific classes you can sign up for on certain days or 2. you can walk in and just start creating anything. We decided not to sign up for a class and just walk in. It was a good and bad thing. Good because you could work at your own pace ... bad because you had to come up with your own ideas! I ended up finding a picture frame, so I created a collage of our Austin experience using clippings from maps, magazines, and card stock.
After this full day, we rewarded ourselves with Pitchfork Pretty. It was delicious!!! (Again. As was most of the food in Austin.)
Saturday: Our plan was to grab breakfast at Arturo's Underground Cafe and head to the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center.
We picked up BBQ from The County Line for dinner on the way home ... to-go. We were too sweaty and hot to go in anywhere! Haha*
Sunday: Our final full day in Austin, we started our day with Voodoo Doughnut (Yes. I took a second "mini" cheat day so that I could have a doughnut. Sue me.) It was worth the wait in line.
After a breakfast of sugar and delightfulness, we went to the capitol building and walked the grounds, stopped by an antique store called Uncommon Objects, and ate at Shady Grove.
Our last evening in was filled with selfies and relaxing! I also finished my book.
It was a very fun trip with some of my favorite ladies! Until next June ...

Those two smears across the photo above are bats captured by Jessie!
The videos we took show a lot more, but neither did the bats justice!
