An Elegant Evening

My mom and I were a little late to the Downton Abbey party. However, once my mom purchased the entire season ... we quickly became addicted. Then we shared the season with our friends Frances and Helen.

News flash: there is a DA movie coming out soon! Whoo-hoo! Our excitement in this fact inspired talk of a Downton Abbey Party. What was originally just a plan to get together to watch the last few episodes to refresh our memories became a four-course meal, in-costume ordeal.

Frances and Helen hosted a lovely party with a themed menu:
First course: Sausage pinwheels + egg salad tea sandwiches.
Second course: Tomato soup.
Third course: Roast beef and gravy, kale salad, and Yorkshire pudding.
Fourth course: Shortbread cookies with tea + toffee ice cream with coffee.
The first three courses were enjoyed with red wine.
(Yes, I took my "one day a month" cheat day for this!)

In between each episode, we started a new course. Everything was delicious and the company was delightful. It's always so fun to have events like this!
