A Special Birthday - 60

My mom turned 60 this month. To me, that's a big deal. When you pass your 13th, 16th, 21st, and 30th birthdays ... I feel like the next "big" ones are 40, 50, 60, 70, etc. My dad, brother, sister-in-law, and I decided we wanted to do something a little more "special" for her birthday this year to celebrate the "big 60!"

Theme: Black and white stripes with floral and gold accents.
Place: Commerce Civic Center // Cold Sassy Room
Caterer: Angie Hooper
Menu: Pot roast, mashed potatoes, green beans, creamed corn, salad, and rolls.
Dessert: A Cookie Occasion + Shelby's Cakes (So. Good. Both were lemon-themed.)

When everyone arrived, the caterer brought the food in. We prayed, made our plates, and sat to watch the picture slideshow presentation that I put together while we ate.

After it was over, we picked up everyone's plates and got dessert ready! Birthday song. Candles blown out. Cake cut up and passed out, along with cookies. Sarah and I also each brought our coffee makers. What's dessert without coffee, right?!

Then started the games. Our family includes a lot of "gamers." Card games, board games, dice games, drawing games. You get the picture. Sarah and I also put together a fun (we hoped) kids' table for our two smaller cousins. We think they had a fun time as well!

It was a special evening for a special lady. We love our mom so very much and are thankful for all she does for our family!

Happy birthday, Mother Dearest! We love you!
