Books :: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

This wallpaper is from Bing, and I added the words on PicMonkey.

It never fails. This always happens to me when it comes to a REALLY good book series. I invest all of this time in the lives of fictional characters and end up homesick for these people and places. It's actually ridiculous! I have just finished The Return of the King, and I'm not ready to leave Middle-Earth just yet.

What wonderful writing.
What a good story.
What an adventure!

I wanted to - again - say what a wonderful job the film directors did. Especially with The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers.

The Return of the King movie was wonderfully done as well, but it sort of "ended" with the destruction of the ring. Which is a great ending! (Yay! Light prevails instead of darkness!)

However, the book continued on for a good while after the ring was destroyed, Aragorn became king and married Arwen, and Faramir asks to marry Eowyn.

We travel BACK to every place the fellowship stopped on their journey away from the Shire, we find out what happens to Saruman and Wormtongue, and we learn a little bit more about each of the hobbits' lives after the fall of Sauron. Plus LOADS of history and facts in the back of the book. Those facts span allllll of the series, including The Hobbit. It has timelines, information on languages (of the elves, dwarfs, etc.), family trees, extra tidbits, and so much more. I have already marked Tolkien's other books as "to-read" on my Goodreads account: The Silmarillion, The Children of Hurin, and The Unfinished Tales of Numenor and Middle-Earth.

Quotes from The Two Towers:
Feel free to skip these if you have not read the book OR seen the movie... I just have to include them because they are quotes straight from the book that were used throughout the entire film (and there were more!)

Great battles. True friendships. Good verses evil. What more could one want?? I am so happy to have finally read these wonderful books. I will forever be a fan... and not only of the movies now! Thank you, Tolkien.
