Day Trip to Monroe.

Sometimes day trips are just the best. This day trip we took yesterday was needed, not far away, and fun. I am very lucky to have a sister-in-law who I'm also best friends with. I know that sometimes this is not the case, but I feel like my brother picked a good one. It was actually her idea to take the "ladies' day" out of town a little ways. From Athens, Monroe was not far at ALL ... thirty-five to forty minutes away, depending on traffic and if one stops anywhere else.

However, before we headed to Monroe, GA ... we stopped by our beloved Athens for brunch and coffee.

Once we got to downtown Monroe, we hit all the shops and boutiques. So many cute places that featured unique arts, clothing, paper products and cards, kids' accessories, etc.

One minute drive from downtown:

We had a lovely time, and ended the afternoon with ice cream.

On the way home, we stopped BACK through Athens to a couple of our favorite places for our Saturday night dinner-n-dessert.

Overall, it was a wonderful and relaxing trip. It was nice to have no schedule, no place to be, and no distractions. Sarah and I also end up getting each other a little something when we travel together. It's inevitable. Sarah got us these sweet crescent moon mugs, and I found these "lucky penny" friendship bracelets.

We will definitely be back to Monroe for one reason or another!
